About Us

Introduction

This is Dave and Sue. We purchased a fifth Wheeler in May 2009 so that we could take off and join the hundreds of Grey Nomads on the great lap of Australia. We initially started with a few trips covering outback Queensland, the great ocean road, and rural Victoria.

Then in May 2011 we started our great trip with the first leg being from Sydney to Darwin. By November 2011, we had completed the major trip, travelling down the coast of Western Australia, before coming back across the Nullarbor, up to Broken Hill and then back to Sydney.

Between May 2009 and November 2011, we travelled 76770 kilometres at an average of 2,476kms per month. Total fuel cost was $13,975. Our overall fuel consumtion was 12 litres per 100 kilometres.

Highlights of the major trip include:
* Visiting outback Queensland, including Cania Gorge, Longreach, Charters Towers and Winton
* Touring the red centre, including sunset/sunrise at Uluru, Daly Waters Pub, Mataranka Springs, Katherine Gorge
* Staying at some of the best camps in north-west WA, including Lake Argyle, Barn Hill Station, Karijini NP
* Stopping at the Ningaloo Reef and visiting Coral Bay
* Travelling back across the Nullarbor, playing golf on the Nullarbor Links course
* and of course meeting lots of great other grey nomads all doing the same thing

Now we are back based in Port Macquarie. We sold the fifth wheeler thinking our big trips are over. But it hasn't been long and we decided we still enjoy the nomad life. We started by buying a Ford Territory and Coromal pop-top, however, we then decided we wanted the extra space and comfort of a bathroom, so ended up buying a Kingdom Kensington caravan.

The Kingdom van has been going well with another trip around Australia planned for next year.
