About Aussie Travelogue

HI THERE

Hi. I am Dave Carter, designer and programmer of the Aussie Travelogue software. Like many other grey nomads, I had the dream of travelling around Australia in my retirement in a couple of years time. I was interested in a software program to document my travels and be able to easily generate a web page which I could then share with family and friends. I really wanted to be able to plan my itinerary without the need to be connected to the internet. And then once internet connection became available, I could then upload my web pages.

As I was unable to find any suitable programs, I decide to write my own, which I started in 2006. The program will be generally available from late 2009. I will continue to update the program as I get user feedback.

Some details of users functions are provided opposite. These web pages were generated using the Aussie Travelogue program. Web page generation is via a menu driven interface without the need to understand HTML.

If you would like a brochure on the program, to purchase a copy or obtain a trial copy then please send me an email using the "Email Aussie Travelogue" tab above.

Hope you have safe travels

Dave

Aussie Travelogue Software

Aussie Travelogue is a software package specifically designed for Australian travellers. The program can used to plan and document itineries using Trip Maps and keep a diary of your travels. The program can be used without the need to be connected to the internet (as long as you have an atlas for reference). However the program will also generate web pages for you containing Itinerary, Diary, photo links etc which can the be uploaded at a later time to the your ISP for sharing with family and friends. The web pages you see here were generated using the software.

The software is written using Visual Basic, Microsoft Access database, Crystal Reports and Macromedia Dreamweaver. Development of the software commenced in 2006 and has continued to be developed and enhanced since that time. It contains over 15,000 lines of visual basic code, 15 reports, and over 20 access tables.

Tha main functions of Aussie Travelogue are:

1. Develop tours and itineraries. These can be done either by selecting one town at a time, or by selecting multiple towns from pre-defined Trip Maps. Itineraries can easily be modified adding comments (such as details of overnight stays), or adding extra nights, extra towns. Total kilometres are calculated and can be used to analyse fuel consumption and total cost.

2. Add additional Trip Maps to the pre-defined ones using the "Trip Map Builder"

3. Maintain a Tour Diary including links to Diary photos on your hard drive. Comments on each photo relevant to the trip can also be added.

4. Maintaining a Vehicle Log of petrol costs.

5. Atlas of Towns, Distance Charts

6. Graphs to show Planned and actual fuel consumption and kilometres travelled. Ability to do 'what if' scenarios for changes in fuel price.

7. Web page generation containing Home Page, Trip Itineraries (with link to Google Maps), Trip Photos and Favourite url links.

8. Numerous travel information (eg Departure Checklists, Event Lists, Climate Notes, Packing lists etc).

9. Ability to print a number of reports.

The database has been initially loaded with around 10,000 towns/ locations, approx 90 Trip Maps, 400 festivals/events and climate information for major Australian cities.

All enquires regarding purchase of Aussie Travelogue software should be directed using the "Email Aussie Travelogue" option above. Cost of the software is being kept to a reasonable amount to encourage take-up and usage of the software
